10th Annual E-Tech Awards Recognize Cohere Technologies for its OTFS Wireless Modulation
SANTA CLARA, Calif., – August 17, 2016 – Cohere Technologies (cohere-technologies.com) today announced its revolutionary wireless modulation technology, OTFS™, has been named a finalist in “Wide Area Networks (5G, 4G and LTE Advanced)” category of the 10th annual CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards. E-Tech winners will be announced during CTIA Super Mobility 2016™ in Las Vegas.
“Being named an E-Tech finalist is prestigious wireless industry recognition,” said Jake Katz, vice president of product management at Cohere Technologies. “To have an A-List panel of judges, who study the wireless industry closely, see the potential for Cohere’s OTFS modulation is further validation of Cohere’s novel approach to the wireless waveform. All Cohere employees are proud to see our contribution to 5G once again recognized alongside major established players in wireless.”
CTIA Super Mobility 2016, the largest wireless event in America, announced more than 70 finalists for its E-Tech Awards. A panel of 35 industry experts, reporters and analysts judged submissions in 15 different award categories. The program distinguishes cutting-edge mobile products and services for excellence in transforming networks, businesses, smart cities and connected consumers. Time Inc. Marketing, Technology and Telecommunications Vice President Newell Thompson will announce the winners at a live awards ceremony on Sept. 8 at 2:00 P.M. PT at the Sands Expo.
“CTIA awards represent the wireless industry’s highest honors in innovation, functionality and technological importance,” said CTIA Show Director and Conventions AVP Heather Lee. “We look forward to showcasing how these mobile products and services will benefit businesses and consumers.”
Cohere Technologies entered its Orthogonal Time Frequency and Space, or OTFS, wireless modulation technology into the “Wide Area Networks (5G, 4G and LTE Advanced)” E-Tech Awards category. Cohere developed this patented technology to address the most critical issues facing wireless communications today – capacity, coverage and cost. Currently, OTFS is being tested in numerous technical trials by major wireless operators. OTFS is also being evaluated by the 3GPP for inclusion in forthcoming 5G wireless standards and has received public support from AT&T, China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and Telstra.

About Cohere Technologies
Cohere Technologies is solving the fundamental technical challenges of wireless communications to dramatically increase performance, reliability and coverage with its Orthogonal Time Frequency and Space (OTFS) technology. OTFS is a new modulation scheme that perfectly captures the wireless channel, delivering substantially increased coverage and spectral efficiency over existing solutions, allowing operators to significantly reduce cost. Combined with traditional modulation schemes, OTFS extends the benefits of its new two-dimensional modulation to existing platforms to enable the future of 5G mobility. Cohere plans to productize OTFS for backhaul, fixed wireless access and 5G.
